What Shapes Us

Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton, AB - To Mar 28, 2027

by Lissa Robinson

This multi-generational exhibition investigates Indigenous abstraction as a dynamic, evolving visual language rooted in pattern and repetition. Spanning textiles, sculp- ture, beadwork, carving and installations, the show features diverse practices and nations through works by Wally Dion, Bob Boyer, Renee Condo, Brian Jungen and oth- ers. These artists layer, weave and assemble repeated gestures into rhythmic forms. These acts of accumulation illustrate the cycles of creation that connect enduring traditions with contemporary expressions, inviting viewers to engage with how abstraction informs memory, material and movement. youraga.ca
