Fulgencio Lazo | Iluminando Caminos [Lighting the Way]

ArtX Contemporary, Seattle, WA - To Nov 14

by Matthew Kangas

Oaxacan American artist Fulgencio Lazo displays vibrant, rhythmic compositions, “looking to cultural memory, community, and connection as sources of resilience and light.” Lazo has won numerous public art competitions, been acquired by prestigious art museums and exhibited widely. The brightly colored passages, intertwining linear patterns and swirling shapes in his abstract paintings reflect his inner vision as well as his Zapotec heritage. Alongside this show, Lazo’s tapete installation celebrating Día de los Muertos is on view at the Seattle Art Museum until Jan 11, 2027. artxcontemporary.com
