Saodat Ismailova is a filmmaker and artist based between France and Uzbekistan, where she was raised in the years following the Soviet occupation. For Other Light, Ismailova presents two films in a site-specific installation—Melted into the Sun (2024) and To the Throat of the Sun (2026). Grounded in the layered histories of Central Asia, these films mine oral tradition and world views as systems through which ances- tral knowledge is transmitted to future generations, despite political, economic and environmental upheavals. westernfront.ca
