Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC), Whistler, BC - Extended to Oct 8
Subtitled A Photographic Journey into Belonging, this exhibition takes viewers into the territories of the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and Liĺwat7úl (Lil’wat Nation). Growing out of a research project, the photographs mounted here depict Elders, youth and chiefs wearing ceremonial regalia in often spectacular natural settings – but also within the context of settler-driven urban, agricultural and recreational development. The show reminds viewers of Indigenous presence and belonging “since time immemorial.”
