Preston Wadley: Abstract Truth
Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue, WA - To Oct 8
Born in Los Angeles, Preston Wadley came to Seattle to study with Jacob Lawrence, legendary Harlem Renaissance figure and University of Washington art professor. After a stint as a medical photographer, Wadley became photography professor at Cornish College of the Arts, beginning a series of boxing ring photographs that received considerable attention. Delving more deeply into African American communities and their social histories, his current work embeds altered photographs in bronze assemblages in the form of artist’s books.
