Of Light Itself: Tsuneko Kokubo

Storytelling infuses and informs Tsuneko Kokubo’s multifaceted creative practice, which ranges from painting and performance to set design and choreography. This exhibition surveys Kokubo’s 60-year career and reveals both her early influences and the landscape and ecology of Silverton in the West Kootenay region, where she has lived since 1994. Childhood memories, French Impressionism, Japanese calligraphy and traditional ceremonies, gardens, circuses, street theatre – all find gorgeous expression in Kokubo’s art.
