Framing The Revolution: Contemporary Chinese Photographs From The Jack And Susy Wadsworth Collection

Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Eugene, OR - To Aug 27

by Joseph Gallivan

This represents the first show of Chinese photography from the Wadsworths’ collection. It features more than 50 politically charged works by seven artists, ranging in date from 1958 to 2006. The work leaps through China’s dizzying modern history, from the Long March to the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution and the urbanization of a peasant culture. Artists are Wang Shilong, Liu Heung Shing, Xiao Lu, Sheng Qi, Shao Yinong & Muchen, and Qin Ga.
