Pacific Bonsai Museum, Federal Way, WA - To Sep 10

by Matthew Kangas

Specializing in a horticultural art form thought to have originated in China about AD 600, Pacific Bonsai Museum is one of only two such museums in North America (the other is in Washington, DC). Bonsai, from the Chinese penjing (“scene in a pot”), is alive and well in this exhibition featuring 11 works by artists who manipulate miniature greenery in unconventional ways and nontraditional containers. Adding to its allure, the museum is set in the central clearing of an evergreen forest.
