The Paper Trail To The 1923 Exclusion Act

Chinese Canadian Museum, Vancouver, BC - Opening July 1

by Robin Laurence

This temporary exhibition marks the much-anticipated July 1 opening of the Chinese Canadian Museum in the historic Wing Sang Building in Vancouver’s Chinatown. Built in 1889 and expanded in 1901 and 1912, the building housed the businesses and growing family of the successful merchant Yip Sang. Alongside the inaugural show will be permanent displays that recapture the domestic and educational histories of the building and record aspects of the Chinese diaspora, from early waves to the present day.
