Joshua Blue: New Paintings

Salem-based artist Joshua Blue’s latest work features buildings reduced to simple forms and bold colors. These paintings are a departure from his usual abstract style. Blue pays attention to details such as overhead cables, fences and railings, depicting them in thick black lines, but his off-kilter perspective gives the paintings a seductive naïveté. The gallery says his work “seeks to draw the audience into a state of inquisitiveness, challenging perceptions of foreground and background.”
