Current Threads: An Exhibition of Contemporary Textile Art

This travelling exhibition originated at the Cowichan Valley Arts Council gallery in Duncan and features fibre and textile media by Surface Design Association members from BC and Yukon. Highlights include Karen Selk’s Earthly Passion (2026), a collage of botanicals laid on silk and covered with a “blanket” that has been soaked in lac, a natural dye from an Asian insect; and Barbara McCaffrey’s 1911 Triangle Factory Fire (2026), in memory of Manhattan-based Italian and Jewish women labourers who lost their lives due to unsafe working conditions. italianculturalcentre.ca
