Laura Hamje: Paintings
Meloy Gallery, Bellingham, WA - May 5 - 28
Following her highly publicized paintings of Seattle’s Alaskan Way Viaduct before its destruction in 2019, Laura Hamje makes her Bellingham gallery debut with seven landscapes executed in oil and oil pastel. The subjects are tightly cropped scenes of nature, captured along the Pacific Northwest coast. Tangled webs of ferns and leaves interact with elegantly daubed spatters of pebbles and salt- and freshwater rivulets. Her book on the vanished viaduct, Concrete Ghost, will be available at the gallery.
