Human Sprawl: Michelle Atkinson

Working with recycled industrial and consumer glass, multi-disciplinary artist Michelle Atkinson has created a site-specific installation in the botanical garden of the Leighton Art Centre. This work powerfully reflects upon habitat loss and endangered flora and fauna in the Foothills region and also, by extension, across the globe. About her year-long project, Atkinson says, “If I can inspire even one person to look at their own consumption and effect change in behaviour or provoke them to learn about conser- vation programs, that’s a win.”
