Despite skyrocketing rents, extremely low availability of affordable housing, and difficulties in finding studio spaces, artists continue to move to Seattle to develop their artistic practices. A new gallery, AMcE Creative Arts, on Capitol Hill, focuses on new arrivals and reconsidered veteran artists. Thirteen artists, some of whom may join the gallery permanently, are featured in this carefully curated overview of the newcomers’ wide variety of approaches. Among the veterans, Alfred Harris and Robert Hardgrave are standouts.
