Those familiar with high school booster clubs will remember them as much for their signage as the causes they promoted—signs that were likely the first experience many of their teenage makers had in the art of persuasion (a.k.a. advertising). Kim Kennedy Austin, using crafting materials, has produced slogans focused less on outcomes than on human conditions. “How’s Business?” asks a cheery face with a soda straw in its mouth. “What Price Salvation?” asks a gridded run of stripes.
