The Feminine Lived Experience
Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre, Medicine Hat, AB - To Jun 21
This is the first of a two-part exhibition, with The Masculine Lived Experience opening July 7. Part 1 brings together nine women artists from across Canada, working across painting, ceramics, installation and video. Their diverse practices highlight creative excellence and how social norms, traditions and stereotypes shape self-perception and lived experiences. The Feminine Lived Experience challenges societal expectations about gender and offers viewers a counterpoint to persistent myths, prejudice, and reductive ideas about femininity and gender norms.
