WASHINGTON – BRAVA Awards

by Michael Turner

Now in their fourth year, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art BRAVA Awards honor artists in four categories. Inspired by BIMA founder Cynthia Spears, the awards are de- cided by independent jury panels and are accompanied by $15,000 in unrestricted funding. As of this Inge Bruggeman year, BRAVAs are given annually in support of artists and their creative endeavors. Congratulations to this year’s winners: Gabriel Zea of Seattle (Emerging Artist, Puget Sound Region); RYAN! Feddersen of Tacoma (Native American & First Nations Artist, Salish Sea Region); Inge Bruggeman of Berkeley, CA (Artists’ Book Artist, United States); and Priscilla Dobson Dzul (Ceramics Artist, Puget Sound Region).
