Jane Adams’ latest paintings were inspired by the gentle continuum of home and studio. In particular, her years in collaboration with her mother, the acclaimed composer Jean Coulthard (1908–2000), with whom she created illustrated music books for Royal Conservatory students as well as costumes for Coulthard’s opera The Return of the Native (1979). Notable paintings include Image Astrale I (2024) and Image Astrale II (2024), named after two of Coulthard’s piano compositions. Here, the “tone cluster” Coulthard is known for achieves visual equivalency in the mandala. ferrybuildinggallery.ca
