Romanian Folk Pottery

Maryhill Museum of Art, Goldendale, WA - To Nov 15

by Matthew Kangas

To celebrate the centennial of one of the most unusual celebrity visits in Washington State history, the royal visit of Queen Marie of Romania to the dedication of Maryhill Museum of Art in 1926, curator Steve Grafe has drawn from her gift of ceramics to the fledgling museum, supplemented by pottery from the town of Horezu. Beautifully decorated with flowers, animals and fish, these ceramics represent a vital, centuries old Romanian folk tradition. maryhillmuseum.org
