Unbearable Labour Of Being

CityScape Community ArtSpace, North Vancouver, BC - To Feb 17

by Robin Laurence

This three-person show takes its title and inspiration from the work of Iranian poet Ahmad Shamlo. His exploration of the human condition – of loving and being loved but also of bearing the burden of loneliness and isolation – is used to contextualize the interdisciplinary practices of Parvin Peivandi, Marina Roy and Helena Wadsley. Their widely varied mediums, materials and processes engage a range of issues, ideas and emotions, yet all lead back to the “unbearable labour” of being human.
