Roy Henry Vickers
Burnaby Art Gallery, Burnaby, BC - To Apr 21
Co-curated by Jennifer Cane and Emily Dundas Oke, this show surveys the long and prolific printmaking practice of beloved artist Roy Henry Vickers. Of Tsimshian, Haida, Heiltsuk and English ancestry, Vickers has used his sculptural and graphic art to tell the stories of his Indigenous ancestors and to honour the territories on which they have lived for millennia. As seen here, his prints are distinguished by their dynamic colours and streamlined forms, underlain by a powerful narrative impulse.
