Jyoti Duwadi: Reimagining The Intersection Of Art & Environment

Port Angeles Fine Arts Center & Webster's Woods Sculpture Park, Port Angeles, WA - Apr 5 – May 29

by Christine Clark

Forty works of painting, sculpture and installation by Jyoti Duwadi highlight the artist’s experiments with unusual materials and his concerns about the environment. Born in Nepal, Duwadi completed a PhD in political science in California in 1979, after which he devoted himself to art inspired by cave paintings, pictographs, hieroglyphs, and the arts and rituals of Nepal. Here he shows pieces made from repurposed industrial sanding belts, transformed with calligraphy and earth collected from around the world.
