Joan Wortis | Found Forms: Celebrating a Lifetime Of Art

ArtX Contemporary, Seattle, WA - To Apr 20

by Matthew Kangas

For her 90th birthday celebration, Joan Wortis exhibits mixed-media collages, monotypes and paintings on paper. They crown a creative life that has been intercontinental, rich and varied, alternating between galleries and museums throughout North America and art centers in Japan and China. Asian art is one of three major influences. Second is her background as a ballet dancer. Finally, confirming a flair for pattern, is her work as a designer with top New York textile and fashion firms.
