Re-wilding: Cath Hughes
Silk Purse Arts Centre, West Vancouver, BC - To Nov 13
Combining images from both the built and natural environments, the collages of North Vancouver artist Cath Hughes pose ideas about the possibilities of “re-wilding” ourselves and the world around us. Her references include geographical maps, lost civilizations, space exploration, modern architecture and the life forms with which we share this planet. In some works, brilliantly coloured birds, bees, fish and flowers grow symbolically outward from grim grey knots of buildings, furniture and appliances.
