Northwest Masterworks – The Garvey Family Collection, Part 2
Cascadia Art Museum, Edmonds, WA - Sep 13, 2025 – Mar 15, 2026
This exhibition, the second part of a promised gift by the Garvey family, features late- 19th- and early 20th-century paintings depicting the people and the places of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Highlights include Sydney Laurence’s canvas A Special Potlach (1924), in which three wind-powered canoes, their sails stretched to capacity, speed over rolling waves; Jules Tavernier’s glowing Mount Tacoma (1888); and Fred Machetanz’s winter idyll, Coffee Break (1964), that has a traveller warming himself, and a can of coffee, over a small fire.
