Li Turner: A Little Skin

Gallery 110, Seattle, WA - Sep 3 – 26

by Matthew Kangas

Part of a growing group of crisp, satirical narrative painters addressing various social issues, Li Turner has embraced an encyclopedia of injustices and dilemmas, but always with a gentle, deprecating wit. Her current suite of eight paintings, “A Little Skin,” switches moods to more benevolent, witty observations on gay cruising at the beach, leather daddies in outer space, and the appalling choices facing young men in a gun-crazed culture.
