Painting the Pacific Northwest: Mathew Goodrich

Mathew Goodrich, from the coastal hamlet of Wheeler, OR, presents a lush and verdant series of new landscape paintings celebrating the exquisite beauty of the region. Goodrich creates directly in the moment, a practice shaped by a traumatic brain injury sustained over a decade ago. “I don’t have the ability to imagine future paintings, and I can no longer carry my past with me,” he says. Each work serves as a heartfelt tribute to the landscapes where he feels most at home.
