Weaving Home: Carpets of SW Iran

Nickle Galleries, Calgary, AB - To Jul 24

by Lissa Robinson

Assembled from the Nickle’s permanent collection, this exhibition features carpets from southwestern Iran woven by Qashqa’i, Khamseh and other nomadic weavers. Displayed together for the first time, the rugs showcase rich patterns, natural dyes and free-form designs rooted in memory and tradition. These stunning textiles reflect pastoral life, migration, animals, plants and stories woven across generations. Admired for their intricate designs, sumptuous colours and matchless craftsmanship, the featured weavings form a living archive of Iran’s rich and nomadic history and ingenuity. nickle.ucalgary.ca
