A painter, printmaker, botanist and former Parks Canada naturalist, Ilana Manolson has created layered, semi-abstract landscapes on scroll-like rolls of Yupo, a synthetic paper. Embedding her unfurling imagery with marks based on the Schumann Resonance, a magnetic tone found in Earth’s ionosphere, she celebrates the beauty and wonder of the natural world while also lamenting the potentially catastrophic damage human beings are inflicting on it.
