Founded in 1995, ArtX Contemporary (formerly ArtXchange Gallery) is a gallery at the intersection of contemporary art and global culture. To Sep 20 Caryn Friedlander presents a new series of wall-hung textile pieces made from layers of semi-translucent silk hand-dyed with indigo. Friedlander’s new body of work echos the ever-changing patterns of water’s surface, reflecting on the possibility inherent in an ever-changing world, full of potential and beauty. Opening Oct 2 Walks Along The Kamogawa: The Kyoto Series, Part 1. Contemporary sumi painter Alan Lau presents new paintings, large and small, depicting poetic, abstracted fragments of life from Lau’s yearly travels to Kyoto.
