To Jun 28 Personal to Political: Celebrating the African American Artists of Paulson Fontaine Press features works by 17 African American artists who are reshaping the contemporary art world. Unique to this showing is a Gee’s Bend quilt by Louisiana Bendolph and large-scale paintings by Lonnie Holley, courtesy of Elizabeth Leach Gallery, Portland. The exhibition is organized by Bedford Gallery, Walnut Creek, CA. Opening Jul 11 Luminous Glow: The Neon Landscapes of Kelsey Fernkopf explores the materiality and expressive potential of neon glass. Fernkopf, a Seattle-based master neon glass tube bender, investigates how light transforms our perceptions in an installation designed for the Whatcom Museum’s Lightcatcher gallery. Large-scale sculptures featured alongside original photography by Steve Gilbert.
