Integrated with the terrain, architecture and social climate of the Western Washington University campus, the sculptures create a rich artistic environment for imaginative engagement and self-directed learning. They span the late 20th century to the present, focusing on the height of abstraction, the Minimalist movement and its branches into land art, architecturally scaled work and conceptual art. Artists include Magdalena Abakanowicz, Alice Aycock, Scott Burton, Anthony Caro, Gary Hill, Nancy Holt, David Ireland, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Bruce Nauman, Isamu Noguchi, Tom Otterness, Beverly Pepper, Ulrich Rückreim, Richard Serra, Do Ho Suh, Mark di Suvero, Joel Shapiro, Sarah Sze, George Trakas, Meg Webster and Fred Wilson.
