Opening May 2 Emily Filler: Deconstructed Bouquets. Filler’s newest body of work expresses a sense of joy, freedom, and simplicity, in the form of abstracted bouquets collaged with bright, flat shapes of colour. pulling inspiration from the minimalist aesthetic, these paintings are a visual diary of the things seen around that time, things noticed and admired. FreshFaces is a curated exhibit which brings together select Canadian artists for a one-time group showing continuing Newzones’ commitment to introducing significant contemporary art practices to its audiences. Through distinct material languages and conceptual frameworks, the artists in this exhibition expand conversations about home, shelter, land, memory, care and perception – offering a survey of art practices that are both intimate and expansive.
