Joseph Gregory Rossano: Portraits of the Divine

Museum of Northwest Art, La Conner, WA - To Sep 29

by Matthew Kangas

Obsessed with climate change, endangered species, vanishing wildlife habitat and other natural-world catastrophes, Joseph Gregory Rossano has attracted considerable notice in the US with his blend of blown glass, painting and sculptural assemblage. He’s also been noticed in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and Scotland, where his work drew the attention of certain royalty living at Balmoral Castle. Rossano creates compelling immersive environments that use glass as a stand-in for bones, fossils, plants and tree trunks, all supporting his urgent message.
