Black and White And Everything in Between: A Monochrome Journey

Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver, BC - To Nov 3

by Michael Turner

Galleries and museums are often known for their iconic exteriors, but it is the strength of their collections by which they are measured. The interior of the new Vancouver Art Gallery (completion date: 2028) aims to highlight the VAG’s thoughtful collection of local, national and international art. Though this current collection-based exhibition features renowned artists such as Mona Hatoum, Anish Kapoor and Agnes Martin, the show-stealer is Khan Lee. Using a circular sander, Lee sanded into the gallery’s first-floor exhibition title wall, bringing the colours of past title walls to light.
