Significant Forms
Significant Forms takes its title from critic Clive Bell’s assertion that the formal qualities of a work of art—the arrangement of line and colour—trump subject matter. As an exhibition catalogue, the concept extends to a critique of the white cube’s enhancement of an artwork’s formal qualities, particularly at a time when art is increasingly made, supported and appreciated through social contexts. Artists featured: Wally Dion, Wanda Lock, Zachari Logan, Amanda McCavour, Samuel Roy-Bois, Andreas Rutkauskas and Sami Tsang. Essays by Christine May and Robin Laurence.
