Opening Sep 18 Munnings: The War Years. Renowned today as one of England’s finest painters of horses, Sir Alfred Munnings also created more than 40 works of art as part of the Canadian War Memorials Fund. Commissioned in 1918 to record the activities of the Canadian Cavalry Brigade and the Canadian Forestry Corps, Munnings produced landscapes, portraits and many paintings featuring horses – all now part of the Canadian War Museum’s Beaverbrook Collection of War Art. Opening Oct 3 Ecologies: Eveline Kolijn. Stimulated by her study of natural science as a creative force, Calgary-based artist and author Eveline Kolijn marries science with art; generating through printmaking, video and installation, a fantastical vision of our natural world.
