Marking Marcel Dzama’s return to the Canadian art scene, Ghosts of Canoe Lake has a distinctly Canadian feel with its compelling collection of fantastical figures and nostalgic landscapes. Working from his studio in Brooklyn, this celebrated artist was inspired by memories of a childhood spent in the wilds of Manitoba and Saskatchewan and by iconic Canadian landscape paintings. Dzama explores other, more sinister topics, including Tom Thomson’s mysterious death and environmental concerns such as wildfires and floods. The show includes paintings, drawings, sculptures and film.
