MAIN EXHIBITION SPACE To Sep 30Remember/Resist/Relive. Edmonton based artist Riaz Mehmood strives to capture the complexities of his homeland, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. In 2014, 131 school children and 10 adults were killed when armed militants stormed a school in nearby Peshawar. Mehmood tenderly crafts a space to honour this terrible loss, and to gently hold their grief. Opening Oct 5ᒫᒥᑐᓀᔨᐦᒋᑲᐣ ᑯᑖᐄᐧᐤ –mâmitonêyihcikan kotâwîw – my mind digs in the soil like a turtle. Stunning art quilts stitched on elk hide. Mixed-media artist Heather Shillinglaw captures aerial views of Lac St. Anne, Cooking Lake, the Edmonton River Valley, alongside many more.
