Heather Leier: Practice Pinny
Nickle Galleries, Calgary, AB - Feb 6 – Apr 30
Heather Leier’s exhibition centres on printmaking as an embodied practice informed by physical gestures, tools and studio rituals. Repetition emerges across quilt-like prints, patchwork forms and soft sculpture, functioning as a stabilizing force amid everyday anxiety and dissonance. Quilt references point to feminized practices of reuse and invisible labour, foregrounding care. Humour and play recur, most clearly in a printed pickleball court that exposes the performative nature of institutional care. Throughout, labour and creative practice are valued and their commodification questioned. nickle.ucalgary.ca
