The 11.1 edition of the Reach’s Art on Demand series features Alex Sandvoss’ painting series titled I want to think about feminism, but I have to think about climate change (2023). Like the critical appropriation project of Cree artist Kent Monkman, Sandvoss reworks iconic European paintings to comment on contemporary neoliberal conditions. In an update on Rembrandt van Rijn’s Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp (1632), Donald Trump is holding the forceps, while his enablers (Supreme Court judges, politicians and an oligarch) look on.
