Winter Group Show & Artist Spotlight: Christopher Friesen

This exhibition of gallery artists includes paintings by Chanel Cha and Christopher Friesen. Cha, who was born in rural South Korea, moved to Canada after completing her studies at the Florence Academy of Art, where she developed a hyper-realist style that combines classical themes with Pop motifs. Similarly, Friesen too draws on the waning influence of the Western art canon. While Cha’s preferred genre is portraiture, as evidenced by her surrealistically wide-eyed Dorothy (2024), Friesen’s point of departure is the landscapes of Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (1796–1875).
