The Red Dress
Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum, La Conner, WA - To Mar 2
Conceived by UK artist Kirstie Macleod, the Red Dress (2009–) is an ongoing participatory artwork that sees the dress less as an object hanging in a closet, to be worn on occasion, than as a medium designed to move through the world gathering stories carried in its various embroideries, connecting contributors from all walks of life. Museum visitors can expect to see the dress displayed vertically, on a headless mannequin, its flounce fanning out in a circle on the floor.
