Opening Sep 12 Créatrices d’images: Laurence Belzile. This Vancouver-based artist presents five main large-scale abstract paintings inspired by five women artists who influenced her practice: Betty Goodwin, Faith Ringgold, Georgia O’Keeffe, Françoise Sullivan and Marlene Dumas. Honouring each of these artists, Belzile references their work within her own: the choice of colours, the tools employed, the composition and the concepts explored. Alongside her abstract paintings, she displays research of their works by sharing reference materials and experimental work.
