The Coast Mountains: Recent Works by Edward Burtynsky

Audain Art Museum, Whistler, BC - To Sep 15

by Michael Turner

This selection of large-scale photo-based works highlights the magnificence of the Coast Mountains. Black Tusk and Mount Waddington are given pride of place, as are their adjacent glaciers, which are melting at a rapid rate, due to global warming. “My daughters, who are in their 20s, will not be looking at the same world when they are my age,” writes Burtynsky. “These images are a reminder of what’s being lost—relics of ancient ice and an essential resource for ecosystems and fresh water.”
