Storywork: The Prints of Marie Watt
Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Portland State University, Portland, OR - To Dec 6
The 60-plus prints, sculptures and textiles in Storywork: The Prints of Marie Watt show her development from printmaker to sculptor and social practice artist, although printing remains her core discipline. A member of the Turtle Clan of the Seneca Nation of Indians with German-Scots ancestry, Watt uses blankets and jingle cones in her 3-D work. Drawing on various traditions, her subject is Indigenous people and their storytelling culture, not just the woes of settler colonialism. pdx.edu/museum-of-art
