Sojourner Truth Parsons: Louise

Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver, BC - To Feb 28, 2026

by Michael Turner

Vancouver-born, New York–based artist Sojourner Truth Parsons is known for boldly lurid paintings that navigate the tensions between intuition and reason, interior and exterior, abstraction and figuration. This exhibition takes its title from Louise Glück (1943–2023), the American poet, essayist and Nobel Prize laureate who channelled mythological sources in her pursuit of self-knowledge. Parsons’ current work mines a varied set of references, from the history of dance to the Gee’s Bend quilts of Alabama to her garden in the Catskills. cagvancouver.org
