Prophets: Paintings By Hilary Baker
High Desert Museum, Bend, OR - Feb 21 – Apr 26
A new series of paintings by Los Angeles painter Hilary Baker investigates the symbolism of moths. Often seen as omens of destruction and misfortune, moths have a dark beauty and a vital function as pollinators. Baker lost her home in the Palisades Fire of January 2025 and was inspired to see moths as spiritual messengers, “capable of transformations and navigating darkness.” Her bright, lavish renderings of these nocturnal insects may prompt viewers to pay more attention to moths large and small. highdesertmuseum.org
