Memories & Inspiration: The Kerry and C. Betty Davis Collection of African American Art
Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Salem, OR - To Dec 20
Kerry and C. Betty Davis of Atlanta, GA, were an ordinary couple who spent more than 35 years as devoted collectors and connoisseurs of African American art. The couple, employed as a postal worker and TV news producer, spent their disposable income on paintings, sculptures and prints they loved rather than creature comforts, and this traveling show has 62 of those inspiring works. Featured artists include Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, Sam Gilliam, Jacob Lawrence and Samella Lewis. willamette.edu/arts/hfma
