Featuring 30 sculptures from a variety of prominent Inuit artists, including Karoo Ashevak, Osuitok Ipeelee, Akeeaktashuk, David Ruben Piqtoukun, Lucy Tasseor Tutsweetok and Judas Ullulaq, Legacy in Stone offers both a celebration and a consideration of seven decades of Inuit art—from the 1950s to the present. Pieces of note include Iqaluit artist Henry Evaluardjuk’s delicately rendered Mother and Child and Kinngait carver Pauta Saila’s playful, swaying Dancing Bear, captured in serpentine and ivory.
